Associate AI Systems Engineer

--10xEngineers--
Experience: 0–2 years

Location: Onsite – Lahore

About the Role

We are looking for a curious, driven graduate to join our engineering team as an Associate AI Systems Engineer. This is an entry-level position designed for someone early in their career who has a strong foundation in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, and a genuine appetite to work on hard problems at the intersection of AI and hardware.

You won't be pigeon-holed into one layer of the stack from day one. Based on your academic background, coursework, in-house training, and business needs, you will be placed into one of our core specializations within the ML inference stack — spanning model algorithms and optimizations, serving infrastructure, compiler development, kernel engineering, or hardware mapping on standard/custom silicon.

If you're the kind of person who gets excited about understanding how things work at a deep level and wants to grow into an engineer who can own complex systems end to end, this role is built for you.

What You'll Do

  • Be placed into a specialization within our ML inference stack based on your background, training, and business requirements

  • Contribute to real engineering work within your specialization from early on — this is a hands-on role, not a passive learning program

  • Participate in structured in-house training to build depth across the inference stack, even beyond your immediate specialization

  • Collaborate closely with senior and staff engineers, learning how to approach and break down complex engineering challenges

  • Develop familiarity with the layers of the stack adjacent to your placement — algorithms, compilers, kernels, firmware, and hardware

  • Take ownership of tasks and follow through, even when the problem is ambiguous or spans multiple domains

What We're Looking For

  • 0–2 years of professional or research experience in a relevant field

  • A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline

  • Solid fundamentals in at least one of the following areas: machine learning, computer architecture, compilers, operating systems, or systems programming

  • Proficiency in Python and/or C/C++

  • Genuine curiosity about AI and how models run efficiently on hardware — you've gone beyond the surface in at least one area that intersects with our stack

  • Willingness to learn fast, ask good questions, and take on work outside your comfort zone

Strong Candidates May Also Have

  • Coursework or projects in ML frameworks, GPU programming, computer architecture, or compiler design

  • Research experience — a thesis, paper, or independent project that demonstrates technical depth

  • Exposure to transformer-based models or inference concepts, even in an academic context

  • Experience with CUDA, hardware simulators, performance optimization or low-level programming

Why 10xEngineers

At 10xEngineers, we build the systems and infrastructure that bring machine learning algorithms to life on both standard and custom hardware. Our work spans the complete ML inference stack — from deeply understanding model architectures and algorithmic optimizations, through serving, compilation, and kernel development, all the way down to precise mapping on the hardware itself.

We don't specialize in just one layer. We own the full picture, and that means every engineer here has the opportunity — and the expectation — to think across abstractions, connect dots others miss, and solve problems that don't fit neatly into a job description.

If you're energized by hard engineering challenges, comfortable operating at multiple levels of the stack, and want to work where AI research meets real silicon — this might be exactly where you belong.
