Senior QA Engineer – Native Mobile Apps

Who we are

At 10xEngineers, one of our teams is building a biomedical wearable product – a connected health device with companion native iOS and Android apps that have been in active development and refinement. We're continuously expanding product functionality and features, and we're looking for a senior QA engineer to own the quality of those apps.

What you'll do

• Own quality for our native iOS and Android apps. Decide what to test, how to test it, and where it's most likely to break, rather than working from predefined test cases.
• Design and run functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing, with a sharp focus on edge cases and failure conditions.
• Test Bluetooth (BLE) connectivity between the wearable and the apps end to end: pairing, data capture from the device, background operation, reconnection after dropped connections, and how the app behaves when things fail.
• Validate the full data pipeline from device to app to cloud and back. Computed results should display correctly, and no health data should be lost or corrupted during sync, retries, or offline and poor-connectivity scenarios.
• Stress-test mobile-specific behavior across devices and OS versions, including app lifecycle and backgrounding, interruptions, permissions, and battery impact.
• Verify backend integration through API testing. Dig into device logs, app logs, and crash reports to isolate root causes before handing issues to engineering.
• Build and grow automated regression coverage for critical flows, integrated into the release pipeline.
• Own release testing ahead of App Store / Play Store submissions, and track quality through post-launch monitoring.
• Collaborate closely with mobile, firmware/hardware, backend/cloud, and design teams. Write clear, reproducible defect reports and follow them through to closure.

What we're looking for

• Software QA experience, with strong expertise in manual testing of native mobile applications.
• A strong testing mindset. You can independently work out what to test and how, and find the edge cases and failures others miss.
• Strong understanding of functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing, and the ability to design effective test scenarios.
• Experience testing mobile-specific behaviors such as app lifecycle, connectivity, interruptions, permissions, and data synchronization.
• Experience with API testing, debugging, and log analysis.
• Hands-on experience with mobile test automation (e.g., Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, or Maestro).
• Good understanding of Agile, SDLC/STLC, and defect management.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and investigate issues through to root cause.
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience testing Bluetooth/BLE-connected applications
• Experience with wearable, IoT, or hardware-connected products
• Health/medical device domain experience
• Experience with CI/CD and automated regression testing
• Experience with mobile device farms and crash-monitoring tools
• Awareness of health-data privacy and security
